Financial Issues

Ok so we all know that we are heading into somewhat of a recession right?

You see, I run a kitchen on the side of my normal business. A veterans club which is a membership based club. Now knowing this, you would know that alot of them are dying off or living on pensions. Therefore they have no extra cash to be able to really buy much other then their daily essentials.

That is all fine but what about the kids or grandkids of these veterans? Why are they not interested in supporting their parents or grandparents clubs?

Today I opened the kitchen.. 2 people came in, neither of them ordered.. well they did order beers each, but no food.

Two more came in.. same thing.. then a couple more came in.. again the same. Since when did booze become the champion and nutrition stop? So I casually walked out into the middle of the bar and said "Ok people, the kitchen is open, lets see some ordering here ok"

Slowly they came and ordered but just small things.. Pesonally I think it was just to shut me up.. and it worked.. But tell me why people are so cheap as to not want to even order a $2 soup..

Now, when welfare cheques and Pensions come out, it gets busy... but this is 1 week out of an entire month. Gotta love the government, pay people to drink booze.. because after working in this type of place you quickly see when people get paid and how much they spend on their drinking.

So, are we really heading into a recession or is it just people are getting older and relying on government cheques more?

We need to see more younger people taking an interest in these clubs, not just so someone like me can make money but so we do not see these clubs become extinct.

How do we make the clubs work when they make no money to advertise? We tried going door to door to businesses handing out coupons for free food, nothing.. argh.. talk about frustrating.

Is there anyone who has any experience with this type of situation, I am very open to suggestions.. I need ideas to get the club hoping like it once did 10 years ago.

Come on, I know someone has ideas out there.. lets hear them!
