Poker Tournaments

Hi all, I am back again.. did you miss me?

Ok, so today I was in a Poker Tournament. Not a pay one or one that you win money in, this is a free Poker tournament that is run in bars 2-3 times a week. You have to play good to get into the big one like I was in today.

Now don't get me wrong, I am by no means boasting about my playing abilities because I will tell you, I am not that good.. But I WON my seat in todays Tournament by having my name pulled in a draw.

So, I get up and go to the bar at 12, need to register and then hang around with all the other bar flies who either had their names drawn or actually made it by their own merit. What a diverse crowd, all I could think is "please do not seat me with a bunch of losers".

I was relatively lucky. I found my seat, no one other then an elderly woman who told me her entire life story in a matter of 3 minutes. At this point I was looking around the bar for something to hang myself with. No, please no, do not let her yack my ear off all day.. I will have to kill her and then I will go to jail.

Luckily for me she fell silent when the game started.

This is my pet peave....

You have this game you go to each week, you play against people you know and new members. It is a free game right? No need to take it so seriously right? WRONG!

I like to go in with a smile and joking around. But I seem to always end up with someone at my table who is so dead serious about the game, rules are rules and there is no room for mistakes.

Sorry, but this girl doesn't play that way. IT IS A FREE GAME for crying out loud. If you want to play seriously then go spend your money at the casino and play with the bug guys.

Today, I had this woman to my right. She is now the dealer and this is how is how serious she was about her playing:

"ok, I am burning a card, I am laying out the flop, Ace of Spades, 2 of Hearts, 6 of Clubs.
ok, I am burning another card, I am laying the turn card, it is a 10 of hearts
ok, I am burning the last card, I am laying the river card, it is a jack of spades"

Now, I ask you, was it really necessary to call out each move like this??? I understand calling out your betting, If you call say CALL if you are raising then say I RAISE or if you are folding say I FOLD but for crying out loud,, she did this on every single deal that came her way.

Me, I deal the cards, I ask "Are we ready to see the flop?" And I quietly burn one and lay the flop and that is it..

On Thursday night I had a guy so fanatic about after all the bets were done, instead of letting people push their bets into the middle of the table, he insisted of taking mine EACH time and I now have divits in my fingers from his nails. I mean seriously people.. IT IS A FREE GAME.. I wish they would quit being so bloody anal retentive about it.

So this is my plan, it is payback..

Next time I get someone like this at my table, I will call out EACH and EVERY move, I will make sure everyone hears all my deals loud and clear. And god help anyone who does one wrong thing.. I will be on them like flies on doggie doo.. I know you get what I am saying.

So watch out all your freebie poker players who think they are gods at the game... watch out because I may be at YOUR table one day!

Mwohahahahahahahahahhahahaha

I am sorry I got carried away there for a second.. hehe
