Today was a visit to the doctors office.
I have a new YOUNG doctor which is great. You see I have degenerative Osteo Arthritis in my knee. My regular doctor said "we will give you a cortisone shot and it will fix it right up for you"
What he failed to say is how bad cortisone is for you and that you are allowed only 3 shots in that area in a lifetime.. But I let him inject my knee. Had a good bruise where he injected it but wow, my knee was feeling much better....... for about 2 weeks!
Now my knee is hurting again, so I talk to someone and they tell me about their spouse getting Synvisc shots in his knee and that it worked for almost 2 years.
I think WOW.. I want this. So I truck my butt off to see the doc again to ask him about this Synvisc.
He has never heard of it, no offer to look it up or find anything out about it. So it is a no go.
I had since moved, and now have a new doctor. I tell him about my doctor and he knows him, tells me negative things about him, which seemed quite unprofessional of him but none the less, I listened. I knew that my original doctor was older and from another country and was a little rough around the edges but all in all he was a really nice guy.
But I ask my new doc about the synvisc. He has heard of it. I get prescribed it but can not seem to get ANYONE to do the injections for me. You see, it takes 3 shots, one once a week for 3 weeks. But general practitioners do not want to do it, they rather you go to a specialist for it.
So here I sit, a prescription that will eliminate my pain and no one to administer it.. Go figure.
I have now gone BACK to my original doctor and his wife said he will have to do some research about how it is injected before he will say yes to it. I have 3 weeks to get this done before my trip.. HELP..
Why do you make things that no one knows how to use?
Why don't all doctors KNOW the same stuff? What, are they all educated by totally different books! I thought if you are a general practitioner that you would have the same knowledge as the next guy unless you are becoming a specialist?
I just don't get it!
